Roadworthy FAQs

In Queensland, a Roadworthy Certificate is officially known as a Safety Certificate. It confirms your vehicle meets the minimum safety standards required for selling, transferring registration or re-registering a vehicle.
A Safety Certificate is required when selling a registered vehicle, transferring registration, registering an unregistered vehicle, transferring registration from interstate, or clearing certain defect notices.
Most inspections take around 30–45 minutes depending on the vehicle type and condition.
The inspection covers tyres, brakes, steering, suspension, seatbelts, lights, windscreen, mirrors, body structure, under‑vehicle components and a road test. All checks follow Queensland Transport requirements.
Yes — if your vehicle passes, we issue the certificate immediately. You receive both a printed copy and a PDF emailed to you.
If your vehicle does not pass, we explain the required repairs clearly. You have up to 14 days to complete the repairs and receive a re‑inspection. In many cases, we can carry out the repairs for you.
Yes — we inspect trailers, caravans, camper trailers, boat trailers and horse floats that fall within Queensland’s light vehicle category.
