How the Mobile Roadworthy Inspection Works

Your inspector arrives at your designated address and conducts a thorough safety evaluation according to official Queensland Transport standards. The inspection covers essential safety components including brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, windscreens, seatbelts, and underbody structures. Most vehicle inspections are completed in 30 to 45 minutes.

If your vehicle meets all standards, your electronic Mobile Safety Certificate is issued immediately on-site—both printed for your records and emailed directly to you as a PDF. If repairs are necessary, your examiner will clearly explain the required items. Queensland Transport allows up to 14 days to complete repairs before a quick re-inspection.

How Long Are Safety Certificates Valid?

Private Sellers: Certificates remain valid for 2 months or 2,000km (whichever occurs first) from the date of issue.

Licensed Motor Dealers: Certificates are valid for 3 months or 1,000km from the date of issue.

Note: A single Safety Certificate can be used for one transfer transaction only. Selling a vehicle again requires a new certificate inspection even if sold within the time limit.
